Daily summary of activities OXFORD 2012
Resumen diario de las actividades
realizadas por nuestros alumnos en su viaje a Inglaterra
Domingo 24/6: Arribo a Londres y posterior traslado a la ciudad de Oxford. Almuerzo en el centro de Oxford y alojamiento con las respectivas familias.
Lunes 25/6:
Exámenes de nivelación, paseo por la ciudad. Visita a Christ Church College (aparte
de su historia como College de la Universidad de Oxford, es donde se filmaron
escenas de Hary Potter)
Martes 26/6: Por la Mañana clases, a la tarde
visitaron Radcliff Chamber. Subieron St. Mary´s Church, con la torre más alta
de Oxford de donde se ve toda la ciudad. Paseo de nuevo por la ciudad,
visitando diferentes puntos de interés. Los alumnos están encantados con los
edificios históricos.
Miércoles 27/6:
Por la mañana clases (excelente nivel de los chicos). Por la tarde hay
actividades deportivas con los otros alumnos de distintas nacionalidades.

Sábado 27/6: Excursión de un día a la magnífica Catedral de Salisbury, el antiguo y misterioso círculo de Stonehenge y paseo por la Georgiana Bath.
Domingo 28/6: Visita a la ciudad de Londres.

Gonzalo Quiroga - Jugador de Volleyball
Nos estuvo visitando nuestro ex-alumno, Gonzalo Quiroga, hoy estudiante de Ciencias Políticas con orientación en Negocios Internacionales, en la UCLA, de Estados Unidos, quien compartió una clase con alumnos del nivel Senior. Durante la misma nos contó su experiencia al radicarse en ese país, en un claro y fluído Inglés que fue objeto de admiración por parte de alumnos y profesores. Esperamos tenerlo pronto de vuelta entre nosotros!

British Museum Ancient Olympic Connections
According to legend, the gods themselves participated in the original Olympic Games. Whether that be true or not, the victors of the games were treated like heroes. For one thousand years, games were held at four-year intervals and sportsmen honoured Zeus with their prowess and skill. The ancient games were in many ways similar to the modern Olympics. Thousands travelled from all over the Greek world to relish the excitement and thrill of competition.In the museum you can see images of the boxers and runners that participated, the chariots, the prizes, and even some of the victors themselves. The names of those who won at Olympia live forever. On this tour you will hear about the cheats and corruption, the training and the celebrations that made the ancient Olympics such a great sporting event.
You’ll compare and contrast the modern and ancient Olympics and learn what it was like for a visitor to the original games. Let the past be your inspiration to the future in 2012 and beyond. Join the sporting heroes.
